Overview
Our program emphasizes hands on learning, while adhering to the guidelines established by the national certification board. Our graduates are eligible to sit for the national certification exam, although this is not required in Massachusetts.
We designed our program to produce massage therapists with excellent technical skills. Our graduates are prepared to begin their professional career immediately upon licensure, without any time necessary to “get up to speed”. We start you working on your hands-on massage skills the first day of the Beginning class.
Our program consists of three components:
1. The Beginning Class
2. The Student Clinic
3. The Advanced Class
The Beginning class and the Advanced class have the same schedules, and both classes are 10 weeks long, not including vacation breaks. Students may switch from day to night classes at will. The beginning and advanced class are offered twice a year in the spring and fall. Students must start with the Beginning class.
Students must complete 180 hours of practice in the student clinic. You may start practicing in the student clinic upon completion of the Beginning class, and you may also participate in the student clinic while taking the Advanced class. You may sign up for any of the scheduled sessions, with the exception that, on Fridays, you may participate in only one shift. The maximum hours available for you to practice in the student clinic are 12 per week.
The student clinic operates year round during the following hours:
· Sundays from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm
· Wednesdays from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm
· Fridays from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm, and 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm
